DS3

Typical Applications:  High traffic web sites, colleges & universities, government offices, high volume call centers, ISP Backbone

A DS3 is 45 Meg of bandwidth or 28 T1 Lines bonded together. This is the typical Internet connections for medium size businesses. DS3 pricing has come down quite a bit in the last few years.  If you have a high demand for bandwidth, an internet DS3 is likely a solution worth investigating.

The traditional DS3 connection is being challenged by Ethernet in many locations. However, monthly specials from internet service providers still make DS3 circuits a logical choice.  A DS3 connection can be used for Internet or Point-to-Point communications and a DS3 line can be extremely scalable.  One example of the scalability is the ability to purchase a DS3 connection with only 20 Meg of committed usage, with a 'burst' option allowing for 45 Meg during busy times. This is often a huge cost savings to companies employing these types of DS3 circuits.  With this advantage, companies only pay for what they regularly use, and only pay an up charge when the additional bandwidth is needed.

Contact a TelecomMedic expert today to help with your internet connection needs and to assist in negotiating the ‘burst’ charge.  With the internet service providers dropping DS3 pricing it is sometimes more cost effective to just pay for the full DS3 connection bandwidth rather then paying for multiple 'burst' charges.
